March and ten weeks in Malaysia had past by very quickly indeed. We decided that it would be good to take advantage of our holiday to go up and see Bradley's little corner of the world. So we caught a flight up to Chengdu where we were met by Brad, Jing Jing and her dad. They drove us to Mianyang. By the time we arived it was the middle of the night.
We stayed in a great hotel close to the railway station in Mianyang. Day 1 was mainly a wander, lunch with Jing Jing's family and dinner out at Brad's apartment.

Outside the market not far from Brad's place where he took us to get the food needed for cooking us dinner. |
One of the butcher's shops that was selling pork in the market. It all looked reasonably fresh. |
Jing Jing deciding which pork that she was going to buy for our dinner. |
The vegetables in the market were very fresh and so big. Were they on steroids? |
The local police making a delivery of balloons? These went passed when Ruth and I were wandering, I think that they came from outside our hotel. |

Ruth beside the river in Mianyang. The bridge in the background was very colourful. Notice all of the weeping willow trees are just bursting into leaf. It was spring, the temperature was around 10 degrees C. Every day was grey due to the heavy air pollution, there was lots of dust in the air. |
