This year we thought we should get tickets and check out the F1 Grand Prix in Singapore. So we bought some premier walkabout tickets and as the 24 September approached we started to get more and more excited. We have never been to a grand prix, and to experience the Singapore Night race was going to be exciting. We had been down and checked out the track on numerous occassions as the track grew along the streets of the city.
It is amazing how the roads become a cage, at night time it is like walking through the daylight. There is also a number of stages providing entertainment. For three nights the whole area goes off. World famous drivers, Big Name Performers it is definitely the place to be.
Trackside on Qualifying Night. Saturday night was qualifying we found a spot on the corner 2. It was close to the track. In fact any closer and we would have been on the track. We were there early and enjoying soaking up the atmosphere. Another guy sitting nearby told us he was here last year. He sat across in the stand and it cost him $1000.00. We didn't feel so bad paying for our walkabouts. Same corner different side of the track.

It is not often we get to see the moon out so clearly here in Singapore. I was waiting for the cars to start when the moon just popped out of the haze.

Ruth didn't enjoy the wandering in the heat to find a good spot to watch. So we had to make sure that on race night we could find a spot quickly. Qualifying night we walked and we walked. All the way from City hall down to Zone 1. Here we are on our way home excited but tired and thinking of going to work on Saturday. Ears not as bad as we expected. |

Race night ande we knew we didn't have to worry too much with this guy ready to put out any fire. On the race night we were working until 6.30 and we rushed down to be trackside as soon as possible but of course there were already loads of people filling up the prime spots.
We had expected this and we did spend some time wandering until we found a reasonable spot at the end of the straight going into the turn that runs down toward Marina bay. The cars were slowing for the corner after hitting amazing speeds along the straight.

Qualifying night and the cars were pulling out all stops to qualify. |

Race night and this car was chasing Alonzo but not quite getting there. |
|
Close behind in second place during the early stages of the race. |
|
Alonzo in the lead as he was throughout most of the race. For us it was exciting to be trackside and to experience the sounds, the smells and atmosphere of race night. We couldn't stay until the finish because we had to go out to the airport and meet up with the bros who were arriving. |

Not really being big F1 fans it was definitely an experience on the night. We did miss having a commentary of the race, earplugs taking over from earphones as a priority. On race night I looked up at the Stanford and thought, "Now that's the way to enjoy F1. Fom the hotel across the road ,with the tv to keep you informed and with the mini bar." We settled for under a screen set up for the stand on the other side of the track. |

F1!Been there. Done that but it didn't compare with the 10 days spent enjoying family afterwards. |
