Going to the Beach

Sometimes we just need to escape and get away from every day things. For me I like to go to the beach. This year Ruth and I have made a number of trips across to Bintan for our weekend escapes. These have been memorable for us for a number of reasons. Here are some photos from our last escape that help to illustrate why I love this place.

It is relaxed, so relaxed that you jump on a ferry in Singapore and spend an hour sailing across but when you arrive it is before the time you left. Now that is about as laid back as you can get.


We spend a lot of time exploring the beach and playing with our cameras. There is a range of interesting things to see. We have discovered some very interesting shells while walking along the beach lately.

The beach is always clean, it gets swept and groomed on a daily basis. The water is warm with a small but interesting amount of coral easily accessible. I love just spending time wandering here with Ruth.

It is always great to spend quality time with friends, and this year we have had some memorable times with many of our friends here. We love to take our visitors across to enjoy the pool and the beach.

We love just relaxing and playing in the pool after we have spent time playing on the beach. The cameras work overtime.

Sometimes we are entertained by the locals. Last time it was the monitor lizards that were soaking up the sun in the middle of the pool complex. Look in the background and you will see one enjoying our company.

The pool has a million dollar view and a bar that you swim to when you get thirsty.

Yeah, it really doesn't get much better than this place when you just want to relax.
