We had a great weekend in Desaru recently. Desaru is at the southern end of Malaysia. For us this was one hour in a bumboat then a taxi ride to a great resort beside the South China Sea. We stayed at The Pulai Desaru Beach. It was a top spot for just chilling out. Nice pool, great beach and fantastic people. The highlight for Ruth was standing under the waterfall and seeing the fireflies. Which are about mosquito sized. For me it was the DIY Bar-b-que right on the beach. I am sure that we will go back and explore this place some more.

Wow! National Day, a Saturday and we get it off. Ruth and I made the most of what was a great morning by getting out on our bicycles. We rode down to Sembawang Park and enjoyed seeing people out enjoying quality family time. We spent the afternon swimming in the pool and watching the Olympics.

It was nice to have an extra day off. Happy Birthday Singapore!
