School of Hard Knocks

We had an interesting day out on Monday. A group of MASC teachers met at Selangor, down by Clarke Quay, to try our hand at making a Pewter bowl. The outing included a tour of the factory to explain the history and how they work the pewter. Selangor is a Malaysian based company that was started by a Chinese gentleman. If you're ever in KL it is worth going on the Selangor tour there. After our tour we got totry our hand at creating a bowl from a flat disk. There was something very satisfying about bashing it into shape with a hammer and a mallet! Mind you my finished product could have done with some bondi to make it smooth?
Ruth, Joan and I show off our completed product.
There was a lot of intense concentration needed for
completing our bowl.

Donna did well to organise our group for the outing.
Colleen seems to be worried about what Donna is
goingto do with that hammer.

Isn't interesting the effect that one naughty child
can have on the entire class. We all felt
happy about our success.
This was a great little outing and we all got to take something home.
