One of the best ways to relax in the tropics is to spend the day on a tropical island and to take your mask and snorkel for a swim. We already had an extra day off due to the Deepavali Public Holiday. Our wonderful company now gives us 1 day each year as a long service leave holiday, so we decided to attach it to this weekend to give us a 4 day weekend. Last week we went across to SS2 on Monday evening which the night that they hold a pasar Malam. We had been told that this is a good night market to go to. And we were not let down.

This is a place where research is curently being carried out on the Panda. With so much of the Panda habitat disappearing they are in real danger of becoming extinct. What a shame that would be. If you want to visit the Petronas Towers they are above KLCC on  the rapid rail system. Actually I have a feeling they are KLCC. Between  1998 and 2004 Petronas Towers were the tallest building in the world. NO  wonder we could see them from all over the city. We think we are so lucky to have the opportunity to live and work in another Asian City.


It is now official Ruth and I are employed and working in Kuala Lumpur. We flew in on January 2 and began work on January 3 2011. We have work permits to remain working for the next twelve months and contracts for two years. Torkay Lizard: This was a resident at Cassia Cottage 4b. Every evening he came out from his hideout and dealt to all of the unwanted mosquitoes. He is quite a large Gecko who really didn't mind us taking his photo.

A group of MASC teachers met at Selangor, down by Clarke Quay, to try our hand at making a Pewter bowl. The outing included a tour of the factory to explain the history and how they work the pewter. Selangor is a Malaysian based company that was started by a Chinese gentleman. If you're ever in KL it is worth going on the Selangor tour there. We took the bus out of Singapore and up to Kuantan. I thought the lady at Konsortium said that it arrived at 7:00am but we discovered she meant it took 7 hours. We hired bicycles and enjoyed a good ride. We also had an interesting walk around the board walk in the mangroves. Lots of interesting animal life and only a stones throw from the MRT. This is an area that has a lot material shops and Arab middle eastern style rugs and clothing shops. The streets are narrow and lined with old buildings in this part there is no big Mall.
